6/2(1+2) = 1 or 9 ?

Recently, I found that there are a lot of people argue about this mathematics calculation.

6/2(1+2) = ??

Is it equal to 1 or 9?

The people, who argue the answer is 1, calculate this question in this way.

6 / 2 ( 1 + 2 )
= 6 / 2 ( 3 )
= 6 / 6
= 1

On the other hand, those who argue the answer is 9 calculate this question in this way.

6 / 2 ( 1 + 2 )
= 6 / 2 x 3
= 3 x 3
= 9

The argument happen because of the second step, whether should we do the division first or multiple fist.

Actually the scenarios maybe two.


If it's scenario 1, then the answer should be 1.
And if it's scenario 2, then the answer should be 9.

I seriously support that it should be scenario 1.

If it's scenario 2, it suppose written as (6/2)(1+2).
A bracket should be put on 6/2.

Just like 2/3^2.

You may say that it should be

2/3^2
= 2/6
= 1/3

or

2/3^2
= 0.666666666 ^ 2
= 4/9

But......

If you it's the second case, we write it as below, correct?

We put a bracket there.

So, it's the same with 6/2(1+2) case.
If it's the scenario 2, we should write it as (6/2) (1+2).

So, for this question, 6/2(1+2), I still on the side with the answer of 1.

Interesting Maths Calculation 3

Few days ago, someone show me a Youtube video on one method of calculation to ask me whether is it applicable for all cases.

I watched it.

Impressive!

After thinking, I do think that it's applicable for all cases.
How can he be creative of sorting out this method.

It isn't really a good method to use for some cases,
but I can't deny that it's one of the most creative methods I learned.!

A Simple Maths Question That Many Highly Educated People Get It Wrong

I bought a book at RM8.
After I read it, I sold it to my Alex at the price of RM9.
But, I regretted and purchased from Alex at RM11 again.
Thereafter, I sold it to Alvin at RM12.

So, how much did I earn or loss?


































Answer: RM2 profit

Let's assume that I have RM10 at the beginning.

Bought at RM8: RM2 left.
Sold at RM9: RM11 left.
Bought at RM11: RM0 left.
Sold at RM12: RM12 left.

I got RM12 now.
Comparing to RM10 that I have at the beginning,
I earned RM2.

Interesting Maths Calculation 2

Here is another maths calculation again.

Let's try this.

97 x 92 = ????

This question can't be solved by using my previous method in 'Interesting Maths Calculation 1'.

So,
can we still calculate it in a short time?

Yea,
you can!

Let me show you another method.
This method is useful when it come to multiple where it close to 100.

97 x 92

First, we use 100 to minus both of the number.

97 ---> 3
92 ---> 8

Secondly, you may use 97 to deducted by 8 or 92 deducted by 3.

97 - 8 = 89
92 - 3 = 89

Either one.

Thirdly, multiple up both numbers of 3 and 8.

3 x 8 = 24.

Forth, combine both numbers.

8924

Get what I mean?

Let's try another one.

88 x 92 = ????

Step 1:
100 - 88 = 12
100 - 92 = 8

Step 2:
88 - 8 = 80
or
92 - 12 = 80

Step 3:
12 x 8 = 96

Answer: 8096

Interesting Maths Calculation 1

Let's do some maths.

67 x 63 = ????

I give you 3 seconds do to it.

I guess you may think,
'3 seconds? That's crazy!'

Are you?

Let me show you a fast way!

67 x 63

We will take the 6 and plus 1.
Then, we use it to time with 6.
(6+1) x 6 = 42

Then,
we will use the number behind to multiple together.
7 x 3 = 21

Lastly,
combine the number: 4221

Am I correct?
Check out with your calculator!

Let's try another example.
72 x 78 = ????

(7+1) x 7 = 56
2 x 8 = 16
Answer: 5616

I am correct again,
right?

However,
there are two conditions to have this method works.

1. The front numbers for both numbers have to be same.
67 x 63-> Both are 6
72 x 78-> Both are 7

2. The sum of last number for both numbers have to be 10.
67 x 63-> 7 + 3 = 10
72 x 78-> 2 + 8 = 10

Let's try another one.

131 x 139

Condition 1: Both front numbers are 13 (Passed)
Condition 2: 1 + 9 = 10 (Passed)

(13+1) x 13 = 182
1 x 9 = 9
Answer: 18209

Correct?
